Think of a time you let something slide, only for it to eat away at you later. Tell us how you’d fix it today.
Woke up this morning feeling great that she don’t have to wake up early for work. She stretched lazily, took a few deep breaths and forced herself up. When she decided to get up and check the time, it’s already past 11:45am. Panicking, she switched on her laptop and opened her word document; the mission was to finish a short commentary – a school assignment in which she has less than 2 hours to complete ’cause she has to leave the house by 1:30pm to meet her friend at Dhoby Ghaut station. This was not her first time doing last minute work, but to comment on a friend’s work; trust me it’s not easy. Firstly, you can’t critique directly. Secondly, you can’t put things too bluntly and ultimately, you have to be careful with the wordings. An hour later…
‘Mission accomplished!’ She said to herself. ‘What a great way to start off my day.’
Even though she managed to finish within the given amount of time, she still would have to rush off to meet her friend. 30 minutes later, she finally got into the train and coincidentally saw a friend who’s in the same train as well.
So she walked up to him, ‘Hey.’ She said, smiling.
‘Hey! How have you been?!’ He replied enthusiastically.
‘All good,’ with that she looked away, expressionless, trying not to appear upset.
She can’t find any reason to be happy lately. That might sound exaggerating but that’s how she has been feeling these days. Not wanting to continue with that topic, she diverted his attention by changing the subject to school-related issues instead. After all the small talk with her friend, they went on their separate ways to carry on with their plans for the day.
It’s been awhile since she meet this friend of hers, Stacy. Both had then quickly settle down at one of the fast food restaurants and the first question Stacy asked was, ‘How are you?’ Again, not knowing what to say, she replied ‘I guess everything’s alright’.
What a lie.
